How it is thought to work
Sermorelin is the first 29 amino acids of natural growth hormone-releasing hormone and prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone in natural pulses.
What the evidence shows
It was approved for growth failure in children in 1997 and withdrawn by its manufacturer in 2008 for commercial reasons. Evidence for adult anti-aging use is thin.
Safety and unknowns
Injection site reactions and flushing occur. Long-term safety in healthy adults is not established.
Regulatory status
Not currently marketed as an approved product. Allowed in compounding. See our full Sermorelin profile.
